MAPS (Mill Ave Parking Structure): The Mill Avenue Parking Structure replaces 700 surface-lot parking spaces by adding 1,205 parking stalls on six levels. The parking structure provides spaces for the new Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU, parking for events at the Nelson Fine Arts Center and Gammage Auditorium, students, transient visitors, and future site development of the surrounding area.  The north and south faces of the structure feature a vertical metal screen composed of thin blades set at various angles for a distinctive look that is not typical of a parking facility. ASU's commitment to sustainability is featured throughout the project:

  • Electric-vehicle charging stations are included on the first and third levels.
  • Project to meet Parksmart certification, a top rating for environmental sustainability.
  • Roof is designed to fit a photovoltaic array for electrical power generation.
  • Structure accommodates underground thermal energy storage for campus cooling.
  • Secure indoor bicycle parking with changing rooms also included.
WRAP (no acronym, still waiting on what official name will be, but it wraps around the garage): Connected to the Mill Avenue Parking Structure is a 5-story, design-build structure – known as a retail wrap -- that will feature 126,000sf of multiple academic, administrative, and retail spaces. The west side of the WRAP boasts a unique unitized skin system that incorporates a unique angular design not before seen on campus. The third floor of the WRAP has been designed with an extensive sound isolation system to control external and internal sounds for instrumental practice rooms, group rehearsal and ensemble rooms and recording studio rooms. The Wrap also has designated spaces for Esports, research labs, computer labs, filming/photography spaces, office spaces, and flex use areas.
